Jeff Moore is owner and principal consultant of JE Moore, CPA, PC, a forensic and managerial accounting and consultancy practice located in Atlanta, Georgia. He is a certified public accountant (certified in financial forensics), a certified fraud examiner, and a certified insolvency and restructuring advisor. Jeff graduated cum laude from Georgia State University in 1977, earning a BBA degree in accounting. He then began his career, as an auditor with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Ernst (now known as Ernst & Young LLP).
After spending five years at E&Y, two years with a Top-25 Atlanta CPA firm, and two more years as Assistant Treasurer and Vice President-Finance for a privately-held resort development company, Jeff formed the JE Moore firm and became one of the pioneers of the now-popular "part-time and interim chief financial officer" industry. For over twenty years, he specialized in the delivery of CFO and controllership services. In 2002, Jeff's firm began expanding into several niche-practice areas, including corporate recovery and restructuring services, internal control and antifraud services, forensic accounting and litigation support, and financial staffing and recruiting. Today, Jeff primarily practices as a forensic accounting expert, serving lawyers and their clients, and performing internal investigations for organizations of all types.
During his 31-year career, Jeff has assisted over 600 business clients, including start-ups with no revenues, privately-owned enterprises with annual revenues from $500,000 to over $1 billion, and public companies with sales of $1 million to over $6 billion per year. Many were highly-profitable companies...while others struggled with severe financial or legal problems. Jeff's past and present clients include manufacturers, assemblers, fabricators, distributors, retailers, builders, contractors, real estate developers, insurance firms, banks, law firms, printers, advertising and public relations firms, pharmaceutical companies, internet start-ups, software developers, PEOs, broadband, telecommunications and other technology companies, and numerous other commercial enterprises. He has also served several private schools and various other not-for-profit organizations.
Jeff is a member of the American Institute of CPAs (AICPA), the Forensic and Valuation Services Section of the AICPA, the Georgia Society of CPAs (GSCPA), the Leadership Team of the Forensic and Valuation Services Section of the GSCPA, the Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Advisors (AIRA), the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). Since 2005, he has served as Secretary or at-large Board Member of the Georgia Chapter of the ACFE. Jeff is Chairman of the GSCPA's 2009 Fraud and Forensic Conference Task Force and was Co-Chair of the GSCPA's 2008 Fraud and Forensic Accounting Conference Task Force.
Jeff established and maintains the niche-oriented blog, "Forensic Accounting Today" (Formerly named "The Solo Accountant Reporter"). He is also the founder of the Atlanta Financial Professionals Network (AFPN), a loosely-aligned group of independent and freelance accounting and finance-related practitioners.
